Transportation Cooperation with Gabon: Czech Companies Can Help Modernize Infrastructure
“The Czech Republic has a strong transport industry and can offer Gabon comprehensive solutions ranging from buses and trams to railway technologies and aviation infrastructure. We are also interested in launching negotiations as soon as possible on a bilateral air services agreement between the Czech Republic and Gabon. This agreement will create a stable legal framework for the development of air connections and broader cooperation in civil aviation,” said Minister of Transport Ivan Bednárik.

The Czech side expressed interest in participating, for example, in the Libreville 2 project, a new administrative and urban center for the Gabonese capital. Cooperation could involve the supply of buses, the digitization of ticketing systems, traffic management, or the development of public transportation solutions.

Urban and suburban mobility was also a key topic of discussion. The Czech Republic expressed its readiness to participate in the modernization of the main railway line and to offer the expertise of Czech companies in the fields of rolling stock, safety systems, and intelligent traffic management. The Czech Republic also offered cooperation in the areas of radar technologies, air traffic control, airport digitization, and the training of pilots and aviation personnel.

Minister Bednárik also invited the Gabonese delegation to the Africa Smart Mobility Forum, which will take place on June 1, 2026, in Prague with the participation of representatives from eight African countries. The forum will focus on modern transport technologies, smart mobility, and the development of sustainable infrastructure. The event will also present the Global Gateway initiative, which offers an additional framework and financing opportunities for the development of concrete cooperation between African and European partners.
