The bridge Vysočina by Velké Meziříčí, which is 425 metres long and 70 metres high, was widened to 12.5 metres. The bottom part of the bridge was reconstructed and the surface is protected against corrosion. The modernisation roadworks on section 19 of D1 ended on Sunday 29 November. The bridge Vysočina by Velké Meziříčí is the main subject of modernisation roadworks on section 19 of D1 motorway. It is a girder bridge with 4 parts and a steel girder with an orthotropic bridge deck as a support, which weights ca. 6,000 tonnes. The modernisation of 5.9 kilometres long section by Velké Meziříčí costs CZK 1.58 billion and is co-financed from EU funds. “This year, we had a record number of closures on D1 between Mirošovice and Kývalka; 7 in total. Over 110 kilometres out of a total 160 kilometres is finished. Next year, we will finish the remaining ca. 50 kilometres. All restrictions should be gone in October next year. We would like to thank all drivers for their patience”, said minister of transport Karel Havlíček. In 2021, last 5 sections out of 20 remain to be finished. 8 of them will be completed already in spring on section 12 by Humpolec, where the finishing works will take place for about a month in the middle stretch without any significant restrictions for drivers. In fact, next year the roadworks will take place only on 4 sections in the length of ca. 41 kilometres. The entire modernisation process will end in October 2021.
