Work on the D35 extension started, another 27 motorway km will open simultaneously in four years4/12/2018|Press releasesThe RSD today officially kick-started the construction of a D35 motorway section between Časy and Ostrov which has almost 15 km in length. In the spring of 2019 RSD wants to start building a section between Opatovice nad Labem and Časy. The full 27.3 km of the motorway shall open for traffic in four years. "On this key motorway we are starting with the construction of a section which has almost 15 km and will open the motorway after 44 months. In the spring of 2019 construction of 12.6 km will start as well and we want to open both sections in 2022. The extension to the D35 will take heavy traffic away from road I/35 between Holice and Zámrsk and relief adjacent towns and municipalities. When completed, this motorway should then divert a portion of traffic from the D1 which has been stretched to its limits," says the Transport Minister Dan Ťok. Before the completion of this 27km section, RSD shall gradually start work on several other places on the D35. From 2021 construction on sections Ostrov – Vysoké Mýto, Vysoké Mýto – Džbánov, Džbánov – Litomyšl, Litomyšl – Janov and Janov – Opatovec with a total length of 55 km will gradually start. The whole D35 shall connect Jičín, Hradec Králové, Olomouc and Lipník nad Bečvou and with a total length of more than 200 km it will the second longest motorway in the Czech Republic. D35 is also part of the European TEN-T corridors in its entire length. At the moment 194 km of new motorways and category 1 roads, mostly city bypasses, are under construction. New motorway sections constitute 133 km, of which 21 km is the D1 where construction works are under way during motorway operation.
