Another success of Czech driver education on the international scene24/5/2024|Press releasesThe Czech project L17 App for mentors and young drivers won second place in the Best Road Safety Initiatives 2023 category at the CIECA World Conference in Dubai. The L17 mentor app was launched by the Ministry of Transport at the 56th meeting of the international driving testing organisation. "We are delighted to receive further recognition of our projects from world experts in the field of transport safety, who this time appreciated our application and thoughtful linking of legislation with real challenges faced by young drivers and their mentors," says Stanislav Dvořák, Director of the Driver Agencies Department of the Ministry of Transport. One of the main goals of the L17 Mentor app is to provide users with a clear and logical system to improve the skills of a young learner-driver, with the support of their mentors. The L17 app offers all participants a comprehensive and fully-fledged plan created by experts from the Ministry of Transport, the Police of the Czech Republic and the Association of Driving Schools of the Czech Republic, which will guide the mentor and the “L17 driver” through all important situations in traffic in a comprehensive and easy-to-use way and step by step. These are such situations that drivers may encounter not only on the road, but that they will have to deal with less frequently in the future as an independent road user. The L17 app is free of charge. You can log in at https://autoskolal17.cz/. It is available for both Android and iOS phones. This award highlights exceptional projects, ideas and activities by CIECA members that promote road safety, help save lives, reduce road injuries and raise standards within their own organisations. CIECA is an international organisation comprising 41 countries and dozens of other testing, driving and training institutions.
