“Azerbaijan is an important partner for the Czech Republic in the region, as confirmed by the recent visit of the Prime Minister and his delegation to Baku. Transport is one of the key areas of this cooperation, particularly in the context of the growing importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which is one of the main freight transport routes between Europe and Asia. It is therefore essential for the Ministry of Transport to be part of this initiative, to strengthen logistical ties, and to open up new opportunities for Czech companies. The memorandum signed today creates a solid foundation for this,” said Minister of Transport Ivan Bednárik.

Minister Bednárik and Minister Nabiyev also discussed specific trade and investment opportunities for Czech transportation companies in Azerbaijan. Following two previous business missions by Azerbaijani partners to the Czech Republic, focused on smart mobility, intelligent transport systems, and public transport, the Ministry of Transport plans to organize a business delegation to Azerbaijan focusing on freight transport, logistics, railways, and the supply of rolling stock and urban mobility systems.

The memorandum also confirms the shared interest of both countries in actively contributing to the further development of the International Transport Forum (ITF) and strengthening its role in shaping global transport policy.
