Cooperation with South Korea will help improve Czech railways14/10/2024|Press releasesTransport minister Martin Kupka signed a memorandum of cooperation with his Korean counterpart Sang-woo Park. The focus will be on rail transport, construction of high-speed lines, an the increase of its safety and cooperation between Czech and Korean businesses. During the meeting as part of the Korean delegation's visit to Prague, the two ministers also discussed new opportunities for clean mobility. Both sides supported the development of air transport. "Sharing knowledge and technology will help us optimise costs and improve our rail projects. The experience with PPP projects on railways will be very valuable for us. Another good news is the planned increase in the number of air connections with South Korea next year," says transport minister Martin Kupka. Both parties agreed to support air connections and the development of Prague Airport as a transport hub. The Czech side has received a promise that by the end of the year another air carrier will be selected to operate direct flights, which should further develop tourism; the current contractual framework allows for an increase of up to 7 flights per week. Another layer of cooperation could be the introduction of a direct connection with Prague in the freight transport segment. Another focus of the meeting was cooperation in the reconstruction of Ukraine and the involvement of Czech companies.
