The annual ticket will still cost CZK 1500, so the upper limit is not going up. "The driver registers the licence plate of the car in an internet system or mobile app and makes the payment. This means that he/she does not have to stick anything to the windshield any longer. It shall be also possible to pay the fee in selected sales points where drivers are currently buying motorway coupons. This will save us up to 100 million CZK for printing and distributing the coupons," adds the transport minister Dan Ťok. From 2021 drivers of cars up to 3.5t can choose between an on-line payment or purchase in a sales point. But printed coupons will not be available any more. The driver will register the licence plate in an on-line shop and pay the fee and that's it. Like today, it will be possible to buy ten-day, monthly and yearly coupons. The change in the payment method of the time-based motorway coupon will not increase the price, so the same rates CZK 310, 440 and 1500 are foreseen. The government decided to keep the upper price limit of the motorway coupon. The customs service and the police will continue checking whether the motorway toll has been paid. They will use fixed or mobile cameras. Payments will be registered in an information system of the The State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. Videotolling has been already in use in Slovakia, Austria and Hungary, and Germany is planning its introduction soon.
