In the first six months of 2021, 112,000 of new vehicles were registered. A share of 4.3% (3,454) belongs to electric and gas-fuelled cars. Registrations increased by 65% on a year-on-year basis compared to the same period in 2020.
The navigability of Elbe River will allow for an eco-friendly waterborne transport and improve conditions for international trade and tourism in the Czech Republic. The German Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Andreas Scheuer and his Czech counterpart Karel Havlíček signed an agreement on navigation of Elbe River.
The single railway ticket system launched in December last year. Since then, 505,000 people bought it in total amount over CZK 50 million. The interest increased especially due to summer holidays.
The first ambitious project from the Czech National Space Plan will be carried out after the European Space Agency (ESA) recommended the Space Laboratory for Advanced Variable Instruments and Applications (SLAVIA) project. It should lay down the foundations for future mining on asteroids by using two 20-kilograms satellites each of which will carry three devices designated mainly for exploration of asteroid fragments, or interplanetary matter entering the Earth atmosphere. Negotiations between ESA and a consortium led by a company S.A.B. Aerospace from Brno about launch of the project are in the final stage. Feasibility study, which will set the timeframe, should be elaborated within 12 months.
Over a month now, drivers with expired driving licence can apply for an exchange online via Citizen Portal using a data mailbox. Everything can be done from the comfort of your home in just a couple of minutes without a need to visit a municipal authority. From 1 June, ca. 6,000 drivers tried this new option.
Exactly 50 years ago, on 12 July 1971, first drivers enjoyed the newly opened D1 motorway between Prague and Mirošovice. Since then, D1 has changed drastically and in the last 7 years construction workers and engineers have completely rebuilt 119 kilometres of the motorway under its full operation. The remaining 41 kilometres will be finished by October.
