Press information on the agreement on flights between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation.
Minister of Transport Vladimír Kremlík and the Director of the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure Zbyněk Hořelica presented the upcoming electronic vignette system that will replace paper vignettes for passenger cars since 2021 at the Prague Ring Road. With the participation of the Police of the Czech Republic and the state-owned company CENDIS, they demonstrated how the validity of the electronic vignette will be checked in traffic and they introduced the upcoming model of its purchase in the e-shop. Prices and individual types of vignettes do not change. Newly, the annual stamp will have rolling validity and will be valid for 365 days. The funds from the vignettes will continue to be used for repairs and to build new road constructions.
On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, a meeting regarding truck transport was held at the Straka Academy. The main topics included truck driving on Sunday, the prohibition for trucks to overtake in selected sections or strengthening the presence of the police on motorways. In addition to the Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček and Minister of Transport Vladimír Kremlík, the Police President Jan Švejdar and the Director of the Road and Motorway Directorate Radek Mátl attended.
These days, the Ministry of Transport has made the first steps towards the transformation of the Road and Motorway Directorate from a state-funded organization into a company operating in market environment. Within at least three years the change should lead to the creation of a business entity which will be better suited to the environment in which it operates and will respond effectively to the need for speeding up the construction of transport infrastructure.
Today, MPs dealt with two projects aimed at making life easier in the field of transport. They approved the introduction of electronic vignettes since 2021 and discussed the Railways Act, which allows the introduction of the Single Tariff System. In addition, the Ministry of Transport has progressed in the preparation of a single ticket today so that railway carriers have already received the essential technical and contractual documentation for the System and thus have all the documents necessary to modify their check-in systems so that the system can be launched next year.
The Ministries of Transport of the Czech Republic and of the Russian Federation agreed to maintain the current status and the scope of air traffic. By the end of the summer, negotiations will continue to discuss the framework for further cooperation in future.
