Terminating the road vehicle12/11/2020 11:22:13|Registry of motor vehicles Terminating the road vehicle The vehicle is formally terminated if the owner of the vehicle does not want to continue to operate the vehicle and hands it over to the operator of a wreck collection facility, or if the vehicle is destroyed (vehicle dismantling is not considered as the destruction). The vehicle owner must apply for the registration of the vehicle termination within 10 days of handing over the vehicle to the wreck collection facility or of the vehicle destruction. The person entitled to act is generally a natural or legal person registered in the Vehicle Registry as the owner of the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle may also authorise another person in writing. Attention! Once formally terminated, the vehicle cannot be re-registered. Who to turn to? You can contact any municipal office of a municipality with extended jurisdiction: there are 206 such offices in the Czech Republic and you can search and find them on the map below. What to bring to the office? vehicle termination application (in CZ language only) original proof of identity (ID card, passport) original or legally verified copy of the trade licence or extract from the commercial registry (for company vehicles) technical vehicle certificate, if awarded proof of environmental disposal of the vehicle issued by an authorised person, or a document confirming the destruction of the vehicle issued by the Police of the Czech Republic, the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic or a similar authority of another state proof of the completion of the proceedings for an offence under Act No 542/2020 Coll., on end-of-life products, as amended, or criminal proceedings, if the fact is referred to in Section 13(1)(a)(4) of Act No 56/2001 Coll. on the conditions of vehicle operation on roads, as amended Hand back in the vehicle registration certificate Hand back in the licence plates No proof of vehicle insurance is required. Vehicle termination is processed free of charge. The whole task is done immediately (usually on the spot) or within 30 days in more complex cases.
