Among motorways in the Czech Republic, the D11 motorway is under construction to the largest extent. Currently, 22.4 kilometres are being built between Hradec Králové, Smiřice and Jaroměř. The next section of the motorway is expected to be opened to drivers in December 2021, the entire motorway to Poland should be completed by 2026. The Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said this when he was visiting the Hradec Králové Region with the Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček.

Havlíček: We will open another section of the D11 motorway towards Poland by the end of next year

To complete the D11 motorway, it is necessary to build another 41 km to the Polish border. According to the Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček, construction of these sections needs to be accelerated, as the Polish side will reach the border with its S3 motorway between 2023 and 2024 and traffic complications may arise.

„We need to shorten the preparation, speed up land purchasing and build at least the Trutnov – state border section several years earlier. If the Poles get to the Czech-Polish border within three years, it will cause traffic complications. That is why we have to approve the so-called Line Act as soon as possible this year and resolve the possibilities of shortening the entire construction period and bring forward the deadlines for opening of the Czech and the Polish motorway,” says Minister Karel Havlíček.

The first of the intended constructions is a 19.6 km long continuation of the motorway between Jaroměř and Trutnov, after which a 21 km long section will follow up to the state border with the Polish municipality of Lubawka.

Reconstruction of the railway station in Náchod, the Vysokov link or Mileta junction

During their trip to the Hradec Králové region Minister Havlíček, Prime Minister Babiš and the Minister for Regional Development Klára Dostálová stopped to have a look at the reconstruction of the Jaroměř railway station, which will increase the speed of passing trains and improve the comfort of passengers. According to the Railway Administration, an investment of CZK 904 million will be finalized this July. On their way to Náchod, the government officials also discussed a feasibility study of the Vysokov link, which can shorten the train journey from Hradec Králové to Náchod by 20 minutes.

“We also discussed a big problem which bothers all the inhabitants of Hradec Králové. It is the Mileta junction, which we are planning to rebuild and increase its safety. It is a joint activity of the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD), the city and the region. We are preparing the necessary documentation and we have agreed with the Road and Motorway Directorate that we will start the preparatory work one year earlier than originally planned, i.e. in the autumn of 2021,“ adds Minister Havlíček.

The Minister of Transport finished the regional trip at the seat of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Hradec Králové where he presented the planned investments in transport, energy, but mainly the trade package, which contains measures for an easier life of entrepreneurs.
