New digital map DroneMap in operation3/9/2025|Press releasesThe Czech Air Traffic Control (ATC), in cooperation with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Ministry of Transport, has launched the new DroneMap application since 1 September 2025. It is an interactive digital map for the use of the airspace of the Czech Republic for flying unmanned aircraft, i.e. drones. DroneMap is now an official public information system showing the Czech Republic's mandatory geographical zones with bans or additional conditions for flying drones. DroneMap also fully replaces the former DronView tool. "DroneMap brings a practical and clear display of geographical zones in the Czech Republic. It gives drone pilots a clear view of whether they are in a location with stricter rules. Fast access to this information available to everyone will contribute to increased safety in the Czech skies," said Jan Klas, Director General of the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic. "The launch of the new version of this digital DroneMap is an important milestone on Czech Republic's journey towards a more advanced and safer drone environment. Thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of Transport, CAA and the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic, it brings more comprehensive access to information that is crucial for drone operation planning and pre-flight preparations. This is even more true because the launch of the digital DroneMap comes at the same moment as an optimisation of the geographical zones for drones. I believe that the new system will strengthen public awareness of applicable rules and, as a result, will also help ensure more effective compliance and enforcement." In digital form, users will find mapped information about airspace and grids near airports and also everything about applicable geographical zones for drones. Information on specially protected areas and densely populated areas, heliports, roads, railways, elements of the energy system, water sources or objects important for the protection of the state can all be found here. DroneMap also offers the possibility to manage the operation of your own drones, to plan and archive and, if necessary, to make your flights visible to others in advance. Distance measurements and a look at current meteodata are also available. This new tool for drone operators takes into account the state of legislation according to the general measures issued by CAA and offers a basic overview of the rules applicable to a specific location. Another advantage is the ability to click through to the website of the "Fly Responsibly" awareness campaign, which aims to educate drone pilots about the rules of drone operation. DroneMap is available at https://dronemap.gov.cz. The development of the DroneMap mobile application continues. The current format of the system is still being fine-tuned to make DroneMap as user friendly as possible. User feedback is seen as an important element for further development. The DroneMap administrator is the Civil Aviation Authority of the Czech Republic, which has entrusted its operation to the state-owned enterprise Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic. Support for the DronView application, which was crucial in the early days of drone development in the Czech Republic, was terminated as of 31 August 2025.
