New OPD calls for the support of construction of hydrogen filling stations for urban projects26/11/2022|Press releasesThe Ministry of Transport will support the construction of hydrogen filling stations with CZK 300 million from the Operational Programme Transport 2021-2027 (OPD3). It is also launching three other calls for metropolitan areas and agglomerations to support urban transport telematics and the development of urban rail transport infrastructure for a total value of EUR 22.8 billion. Construction of hydrogen filling stations The Ministry of Transport has announced the first OPD3 call for support for alternative fuels infrastructure, specifically the construction of infrastructure for hydrogen filling stations. The allocation for this call is CZK 300 million. The deadline for submitting applications is 31 January 2023. Applicants engaged in economic activity in the following areas can apply for subsidies under this call: distribution of gaseous fuels through networks, trading of gas through networks, research and development in the field of natural and technical sciences, gas production, production of technical gases, electrical installations, trading of electricity or electricity distribution and those who submit a project for the construction of hydrogen filling stations in the Czech Republic. The maximum rate of support is 85%. The applications for support will be evaluated in particular in terms of cost-effectiveness and project readiness and relevance. In total, the Ministry of Transport has allocated CZK 6 billion for measures to support alternative fuel infrastructure under OPD3. Calls for urban projects The Ministry of Transport has also announced calls for so-called metropolitan areas and agglomerations. These are calls to support urban transport telematics and the development of urban rail transport infrastructure. The calls are ongoing and will be open to applicants until 30 June 2024. The total amount of support for these calls is EUR 22.8 billion. ITS – transport telematics A total allocation of CZK 1.96 billion is available to applicants in this call. This call is intended for towns with a population of more than 40 000 inhabitants. Main supported activities are e.g.: Development of ITS systems and services, spatial data infrastructures, electronic communication networks and services for the provision of traffic information and for dynamic traffic management (e.g. traffic control stations in cities for the coordination of traffic light signal plans). System compatibility and continuity of ITS services between systems at local and regional level. Implementation of traffic detectors, camera systems for ITS systems and spatial data, including data transmission solutions. Acquisition and installation of technical equipment for the acquisition of static and dynamic traffic data, including the transmission of this data to end users. Other ITS and C-ITS elements and applications not specified above. The call has been be open to applicants since 8 December 2022. Urban rail transport infrastructure Two calls are aimed at urban transport companies and CZK 20.8 billion is available for them. The calls aim to promote the development and use of sustainable transport in Czech cities. Main supported activities are e.g.: Construction of new tram or trolleybus lines, especially completion of long-prepared lines to areas with high population density Comprehensive modernisation of tram or trolleybus lines to improve the quality of transport, travel speed, line capacity and reduce negative externalities Construction and reconstruction of technical facilities for urban rail transport with demonstrable impact on passengers Construction of a new section and metro technology modernisation
