Správa železnic kick-started the modernisation of one of the busiest transport hubs in the country. Both the tracks used by passenger trains and the freight area will both undergo a complete reconstruction in Česká Třebová. All platforms will be completely reconstructed and access to them will be barrier-free. The city will be better connected by a new footbridge over the rail line. The upgrades should be completed by the end of 2031.
Správa železnic will secure another 130 level crossings this year, the costs should reach CZK 1.6 billion. Thanks to the continuous increase in safety at level crossings, the number of accidents has been reduced, with the lowest number of accidents in 5 years in 2024. A new campaign warning drivers against risky behaviour should also contribute to this positive trend.
As of 1 January 2025, selected Czech rail lines will be operated exclusively under the supervision of the European Train Control System ETCS. After one month of operation, two million kilometres travelled and with 1 600 trains per day on average, ETCS is proving to operate with a reliability of over 99%.
The year 2025 will be a year of continued “construction offensive” for everyone involved in transport and for users, further safety improvements on rail and road, continued digitalisation of transport agendas and public transport development.
Správa železnic will have CZK 62.7 billion available for the renewal of lines and stations in 2025. This is almost one billion more than in 2024. A record 39.3 billion will be spent on investments, thanks to which the modernisation of the important Česká Třebová node will start, among other things. Next year, the construction of the first parts of the 200 km/h high-speed line from Brno to Přerov will begin, and intensive preparation of high-speed lines will continue.
Already before the summer, the first passengers could take a ride on ČD's most modern ComfortJet long-distance train. České dráhy (Czech Railways) is counting on their first deployment in operation on selected connections Prague – Bohumín and Bohumín – Prague – Františkovy Lázně, in a temporary eight-car arrangement without the steering and restaurant car. Steps are currently being taken to hand over the first train produced by the consortium of Siemens Mobility and Škoda Group to ČD.
