Správa železnic will secure another 130 level crossings this year, the costs should reach CZK 1.6 billion. Thanks to the continuous increase in safety at level crossings, the number of accidents has been reduced, with the lowest number of accidents in 5 years in 2024. A new campaign warning drivers against risky behaviour should also contribute to this positive trend.
Správa železnic and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with the participation of the Minister of Transport and a consortium of consulting firms, presented the key parameters of the first PPP project on the Czech railway. The presentation in Prague's Fanta Building attracted more than 200 representatives of investors, contractors and financing institutions, with another 80 joining online.
Správa železnic announced today in Jihlava the winner of the open architectural and urban design competition for the new high-speed railway Jihlava terminal. Out of the 25 architectural studios that took part in the competition, the winning design is by the French-Czech association AREP ARCHITECTES – monom. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2029.
The government approved Plan for Modern Protection of Czech Railways – Implementation of the European Train Control System (ETCS), which proposes a gradual implementation of ETCS on 4,800 km of railways by 2030 and on the entire railway network by 2040. The system should increase security and allow for better use of the national railway transport. It will build on the current deployment of this technology to corridor and core railways.
Správa železnic (the Czech railway infrastructure manager) and DB Netz concluded an agreement with a contractor for project phase of a cross-border section of a high-speed railway from Prague to Dresden. Experts will shortly begin to work on document materials for the forthcoming tunnel in Ore Mountains.
DB Netz and Správa železnic announce a new public procurement for project management in the so-called "joint planning area" for project New Railway Connection Dresden – Prague. The project shall take place between 2020 and 2024 in the pre-planning phase.
