ŘSD, the Czech roads and motorways manager, opened another part of the D35 motorway between Časy and Ostrov. It is the continuation of the section between Opatovice nad Labem and Časy, which was opened last year, and it is therefore another motorway section that will replace the I/35 road with poor capacity and safety. The opening of the section was also attended by prime minister Petr Fiala.
The RSD today officially kick-started the construction of a D35 motorway section between Časy and Ostrov which has almost 15 km in length. In the spring of 2019 RSD wants to start building a section between Opatovice nad Labem and Časy. The full 27.3 km of the motorway shall open for traffic in four years.
The Ministry of Transport accommodated some remarks and proposes the free-of-charge use of three motorway sections in a total length of 13 km in its new regulation. Starting from next year, drivers could be using the sections D11 Sedlice – Kukleny (exits 84 – 90), D35 Sedlice – Opatovice nad Labem (exits 126 – 129) and D48 Frýdek-Místek – Dobrá (km 50 – exit 54) without the motorway sticker. A total of 199 km of motorways are already free of charge – mostly city bypasses or those crossed by category I roads. The exemption of these motorways sections did not have any impact on the sales of motorway stickers.
